Tory Crawford, BMR, PT

Tory Crawford

Tory Crawford developed an interest in physiotherapy due to her exposure to sport at a young age. Tory has always been fascinated with health-care, and felt physiotherapy was the right avenue for her to pursue this interest. She is passionate about physiotherapy and feels strongly that injuries do not need to be a permanent limitation to one’s physical activity and lifestyle.

With a special interest in lower extremity conditions, Tory has taken further education pertaining to the lower extremity and running related injuries. Her abilities in this area have lead her become a frequent guest speaker at clinics hosted by the Running Room, where she teaches injury prevention and training tips for recreational runners of all types. Tory has also completed part of her physiotherapy training in Sweden, where she spent time working with individuals recovering from knee injuries. Impressed with the effective rehabilitation results unique to Sweden, she incorporates the same approach into her daily practice.

In her spare time, Tory spends most of her time enjoying the outdoors. She can be found competing in triathlons across the province during the summer, and cross country skiing in the winter. Tory is also a competitive kite-boarder, a pass-time that ensures she is either water-bound or snow-bound most weekends throughout the year.

Brent Winstone, BMR, PT

Brent Winstone

Brent graduated from the University of Manitoba in 1996 with a degree in physiotherapy. He first became interested in physiotherapy after suffering several sports-related injuries. After volunteering as a physiotherapy aide at the Health Science Center he realized the tremendous struggle people had recovering after serious injuries and how a physiotherapist could aid them in this process. He worked for threee years at the Misericordia General Hospital with a wide range of clients who were recovering from stroke, brain injury, lung disease, various muscle and joint injuries and recovery after surgery. For the last ten years he has worked with the Geriatric Program Assessment Team (GPAT), helping seniors in the community with a wide range of health problems. Brent’s continuing education has included courses in Muscle Energy technique, Mulligan technique, balance rehabilitation, chronic pain management and several courses at the University of Manitoba, in rehabilitation and medical anthropology.

Brent is excited to continue offering his expertise to those who are homebound through the Corydon Physiotherapy At Home program. Whatever the cause of their mobility problem, and whatever their age, Brent’s main goal is making physiotherapy services available to everyone. Through a combination of hands on techniques and special exercises, Brent is hoping to work with others to help them improve their quality of life.

Brent still enjoys participating in sports including running, soccer, and windsurfing. He is a committee member for the College of physiotherapists of Manitoba and has been a volunteer for the Lake Winnipeg Foundation and the Global Justice Film Festival. Brent also enjoys spending time with his wife and two young children camping and visiting playgrounds across Manitoba.
